Mandraki

Mandrаki is the most populated site on Nisуrоs and therefore offers the widest choice of restaurants and shops on the island. All taverns and cafés are located along the sea, while small souvenir shops, mini markets and bakeries are scattered in the narrow streets between the colorful houses.

Panagia Monastery

The Panagiа Spiliani Monastery stands on a 30 meter high rock and is built in the center of the remains of a fortress. The courtyard of the monastery is decorated with stone mosaics and reveals a panoramic view of the village and the sea.

Paleokastro

Paleokastro is the ancient castle of Nisyrοs and stands on the top of a hill 3 km from the village.

Chochlaki Beach

This is the closest beach to the port, located under the monastery of Panagia Spiliani. The name comes from the large dark volcanic pebbles it is made of. At one end of the beach there is also a unique cave among the rocks.

Pachia Ammos Beach

Beach covered with dark sand, famous for its shallow crystal clear waters and its sandy seabed. The access is particularly difficult, as the only way to approach it is through a path. This beach is offered for nudism.

Avlaki beach

A distant pebbled beach with clear waters. This beach is accessible through hiking from a sea path or through sea. Ideal for relax.

Pali Beach

It is a big beach with thin and dark sand, layered with thin pebbles and clear waters. Here you can take a swim under the shade of trees. In Pali, the typical tavernas serve excellent dishes.

Emporios

The village of Empоriοs stands on a high hill overlooking the sea and the volcano. Almost all the buildings are in ruins but you can admire the remains of the Castle. Among the ruins, there is also a good story in this place. In the village there are many taverns where you can have lunch with a view of the volcano. There are also numerous souvenir shops inside renovated old houses.

Nikia

The quaint village of Nikia offers panoramic views of the crater and its square, Porta, is the smallest square in the world, famous for its elliptical shape and elaborate cobblestones. Worth seeing in Nikia is the imposing church of Eisodia tis Theotokou, one of the most beautiful in Greece.

Nisyros Volcano

Visiting the Nisyros volcano is a unique and unforgettable experience: it is in fact possible to see the yellow crystals shining in the sun while the vapors and sulphurous gases create a characteristic smell. The Volcanological Museum of the island is also located near the volcano. There you will view many geological samples, diagrams and videos and you will learn about the other Greek volcanoes, such as Methana, Milos and Santorini.
