SYMI
The port of Symi is called Gialos and there are large staircases that connect the lower area of the city (Gialos) to the higher one, called Horio (or Ano Simi), the oldest part of the island.

The higher area of Symi is Horio (or Ano Simi) and it is the oldest part of the island. Horio is full of small alleys in which pastel-colored houses alternate with ancient ruins. In Horio there are also the ruins of the castle built by the Knights of St. John in the early 1400s.

It is mainly a quiet beach and visitors will enjoy a comfortable sunbath under the trees and a nice refreshing swim in the crystalline waters. The beautiful beach offers crystalline waters good for swimming and diving. It is covered with pebbles and some trees provide nice shade. Some sunbeds are available for a relaxing sunbathing. The village of Nimborios is worth a visit for its excellent waters, unspoilt surrounding and lodging facilities, especially in spring and summer.
